Déclarer son chien

Au Luxembourg, chaque détenteur d'un chien est tenu de le déclarer à son administration communale de résidence.

La déclaration du chien est à faire, contre récépissé, dans les quatre mois qui suivent la naissance du chien. A cet effet, le détenteur du chien doit remettre à l'administration communale:

• un certificat, délivré par un vétérinaire agréé, attestant l'identification de la race ou du genre et l'identification électronique du chien ainsi que sa vaccination antirabique en cours de validité
• la déclaration d'un chien auprès de l'Administration communale
• une pièce attestant qu'un contrat d'assurance a été conclu avec une société agréée ou autorisée à opérer au Grand-Duché de Luxembourg garantissant la responsabilité civile du détenteur du chien pour les dommages causés aux tiers par l'animal.

In Luxembourg, all dog owners are required to declare their dogs to their local authorities.

The declaration must be made, against receipt, within four months of the dog's birth. To this end, the dog keeper must submit to the local authority

• a certificate, issued by an approved veterinarian, attesting to the identification of the breed or type and the electronic identification of the dog, as well as its valid anti-rabies vaccination
• the declaration of a dog with the Communal Administration
• proof that an insurance policy has been taken out with a company approved or authorised to operate in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, covering the dog keeper's civil liability for damage caused to third parties by the animal.
